Here's a few of my favorite business cards that I made. I carved the design out of a linoleum block and printed them myself. I had so much fun that when I ran out, I couldn't wait to make more!!!

some of the process on my concept project. This guy goes with the bluejay, I decided on the head on the farthest right, and the body type that is a mix between the 4th and the 5th in from the right.

Believe it or not, the squid is just brown ink, gesso, and black ink. The brown ink turns blue or orange depending on certain situations or techniques, it's fun, but I think it's turning more blue as time passes :/ The Space Dog at the bottom, is a picture, not a nice scan, it looks pretty cool in person, so I'll scan it eventually and see what I can do.

yep yep, so basically my teacher told me that if there were still such a thing as newspapers I'd definitely have a job, because I'm 10 artists in one style wise... not one of my pieces is handled the same... I don't know if that's a good thing or not :/

I have been messing with my blog, it isn't exactly what I want it to be yet, but it's close enough for now and works decently. I hate how all of your lists in your sidebar get deleted when you change your layout, so lame... so if I seem to have forgotten your name/link somewhere, or would like to have it here, just let me know

but back to conquering...
most of my teachers, one in particular, knock on me for not being able to use ink very well. I've even been told to just not do it, which I understand their point. I've been sticking to flat shapes and lineless artstuffs for so long, and I've been doing everything digitally lately, which is fun... but honestly, I've been playing it safe by doing so. Especially by using the computer, it's both the ultimate tool, but also a huge drawback! The reason I use the computer, is because there is so much room for tweaking, and fixing, and erasing. I never finish anything, and nothing seems to have any personality or life when I use it. So, now i've picked up a sketchbook and ink, gesso, and acrylic, and i've been happy with what i've gotten so far! especially ink + gesso, it's one of my favorite things to mess around with.

the toucanet and iron giant are older, but I love them so much. I also used copper paint in the toucanet, so it's pretty cool in person :)

hmm, I have no idea why I haven't posted this yet, I found it all resized and ready tucked away in a folder. This is the image for my last project in computer illustration, I redid a character that I created in Concept class,(the original character sketches are in the upper right hand corner) I took off his mask and gave him a face. I included a few of my process sketches that took me to my final design, but even so, after critique, I still really want to further develop the character because, while It was a good character design, it wasn't up to par with my crocodile cook.

Learning the Art of the Animatic

Soooo, I've got a storyboarding class where we took our storyboards all the way into animatics, and here's my first shot at one. Using a PC was definately a chore, but premier turned out to be a nice change from photoshop and painter. I actually got to make stuff move, kinda.

I think it needs some ambient noise, like birds, or cars, or... breezes? There's still some timing issues. I liked the ending better when it just ended after the frog blinks rather than having the bug hit the windshield. I completely understand why it was suggested to add the bug ending because it had an unfinished or 'to be continued' feel though, so it was added (a little slopilly hah).

anyways, we're moving onto another animatic now, and the star of this one is this little pygmy dude...

So, originally I was only going to post up only the portraits that I liked, but I learned from them all so far, and each is interesting in it's own respect. Here are 1-9 of the 30 portraits in 30 days. This was assigned in my painting class, so they all are supposed to be in oil. I already feel like I am getting way better with just these 9! I can't wait to keep on painting more!

working on changing up my blog, yellow white and black was pretty blinding. I figured this was easier on the eyes. Should be able to finish it up tomorrow.

this is more of just an idea rather than the final layout, I might mess around with the html a bit and try to get it to do some fancy stuff, or I might just make it more simple.

4th of July vacationnnnn!

and here I am, sitting on the dock stealing somebody's wireless. Of all places to get the best reception i'm glad it's here :) ... except for the cloud of mayfiles that you have to navigate through to get down to the water.

not the most eventful day today, so, speedpainttttt! now off to do another :)

I've dedicated my painting sketchbook (that we were supposed to keep value studies in for our paintings) to mini paintings, it was nearly empty, and the paper is perfect for acrylic, and i'm sure oil as well. I dunno why I decided on filling it with birds, but that's what it's going to be full of, birds.

The first is a Prairie Warbler, I found the picture in a National Geographic magazine. I'm going to focus on song birds first, because they're generally small and easy to fit the whole bird on the page, very colorful too. The second is a Black-throated Blue Warbler... not that anybody really cares what kind of bird it is... but hey, now you know :)

and as scans usually are, colors off, lacking yellow :/ and the darks got a glare, a bit of touching up fixed them up a lil bit.

Other than those, not much art this summer yet :( but I'm feeling super creative today, and it's on to another project :)

I always make these kinds of blogs, but I never keep up with them, I have a livejournal somewhere, 2 hotmail accounts that I never keep track of, and various forums that I have at one time been a regular, but have since forgotten. Oh well, maybe some day I'll keep this regular, but for now, it exsists more so I can keep better track of other people's postings! I feel so sneaky.
